Walking to School - Sandy Ward's Photos

On March 17, 2009, the "Walkability" committee of HFFPC took a field trip to walk proposed routes for a "Walking School Bus" to Peck School, led by Andrew Melendez. On April 28 we took a field trip to Sullivan School on Jarvis Avenue; the Principal showed us problem areas for walkers.

Sandy Ward > We walked up Beech Street by the High School, then walked through the parking lot toward the wooded "dingle".

Sandy Ward > This shortcut through the dingle is popular, but slippery and dangerous in winter, and not the route recommended by the school authorities.

Sandy Ward > Peck School, our destination. In Sept 2008 this former middle school became a K-8 school (with merger of Lynch and Lawrence Schools).

Sandy Ward > Returning from Peck (behind us), we chose a different route, the one recommended by the Peck Principal.
