A Red Barn in Holyoke : The old red barn on the former Davignon property along Rte 5 overlooking the Connecticut River was threatened by development. A nonprofit community organization, Nuestras Raíces, bid to acquire the barn and move it to their new farm in south Holyoke. On October 28, 2006 I joined volunteers helping to clear the barn of debris. Professional barn movers began dismantling the barn on November 1.

Nuestras Raíces Farm : A wonderful new farm has been developing in Holyoke. Nuestras Raíces Farm/La Finca celebrated a Grand Opening and Festival del Jibaro July 7-8, 2007. Community Gardens of Holyoke 2004 : On August 6, 2004 I toured the gardens of Nuestras Raíces ("Our Roots"). Gardeners include youth and adults from the community - about 100 plots in 7 gardens.
