"Slide the City" on Appleton Street
Another beautiful day at Celebrate Holyoke
The Expandable Brass Band played on Saturday 2pm to 3:45pm, sometimes standing still, sometimes marching thru Heritage Park, down Dwight St, and along the Canal Walk. When Merry-Go-Round staff beckoned us inside, we marched in there, too!
Saturday evening. Draining off the water from Slide the City.
Slide the City crew packing up on Appleton ... while the Celebrate Holyoke festival continued in full swing in the Heritage park and on the main stage on Front and Dwight Streets, as well as along the Canal walk.
Happy people: Vitek, Ken, Rory.
What a voice on this young singer!
The band leader asked the audience if anyone could play timbales (paired cylindrical drums played with sticks in Latin American dance music). No one came forward immediately. He then introduced each member of this large band. I spotted Jeremy Smith in the crowd and ran to tell him of the opportunity; he hadn't heard the announcement, but quickly came forward and climbed on the stage. He played with their drummers for the finale!
